24 bands line up for Peaceful Love Rock FestivalBy: By Bill Charles Date Posted: 2009-07-02 ![]() ![]() The 27th Peaceful Love Rock Festival is set to rock the Okinawa City Athletic Field Saturday and Sunday, with musical sounds echoing from 24 different bands, including the Murasaki Project, which began the whole festival concept in 1983. It was ‘Murasaki Why Now?’ that first year, and the event was so successful it’s hard for organizers to hold back the numbers of bands who now want to perform on Okinawa. Gates open at 1 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday at the athletic field, near Kadena Air Base Gate 5, and the music kicks off at 1:30 p.m. Saturday’s lineup includes Flip Heaven’s Hemp, D.J Taishi, Zukan, Stereo Pony, Aria Asia, Heart Grow, Green Peace, Bleach, All Japan Goith, D-51, and Mongol 800. On Sunday, new faces join the veterans as Infree, Reverse, AMG, Freddie ETO Kueeness, Makin’ Love, Jet, Kacchan Band, Jack Nasty’s Band, Jupter, SKP, Johrge Murasaki Project featuring Akira Takasaki, Hironobu, Kageyama and Eight Ball perform. Bands will be coming from mainland Japan, and tour agencies are even booking special flights to bring visitors to Okinawa for the festival. A one-day ticket is ¥3,800 in advance or ¥4,300 at the gate, while a two-day ticket, sold only in advance, is ¥6,000.
