Chatan post office robbed

A masked man wielding a knife and a gasoline can robbed a post office of about 90,000 in cash in Miyagi, Chatan Town, Tuesday.

According to police, the man entered the post office and demanded money. He threatened to spray the post office with gasoline and set it in fire if his demands were not met. At the time of the robbery there were four postal workers and one customer in the office.

The manager of the post office then threw a fistful of 1,000 banknotes on the floor. The robber collected the money, ran out to his car outside and drove away.

The robber was wearing dark sunglasses and hat. His face was covered with a towel. Witnesses estimated the man to be about 40 to 45 years old, about 170 cm tall and slightly overweight. Police has not been able to apprehend the man.
