Exclusive gallery staging special weekend exhibition

Date Posted: 2009-06-18

Gallery Lozan is unique, to say the least, as it only opens when it has an exhibition or event it believes is very special and worthy of viewing by enthusiasts.

This weekend is one of those special times, as it introduces ‘Loving Japanese Comfort Exhibition’ featuring products from Kamikouchi, and Hida in Kyoto area. The area is well known for its summer resorts Shinshu Kamikouchi and Hida, where artisans produce a variety of hand crafted goods including patchwork from kimonos, as well as post cards and paper products virtually impossible to find in Okinawa.

The Gallery Lozan, located in Motobu Town, will open the exhibit Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aside from the specialty handicrafts, the gallery offers homemade sweets and one-set plates served Kyoto style. They also have specialties including Japanese green tea ice creams, coffee and tea.

It’s the Kyoto handcrafts that are the mysterious draw, though. The Gallery Lozan’s Shoko Miyagi says just looking at the traditional handcrafted goods are enough to create a soothing and relaxing time.

Gallery Lozan is located at 423-6 Yamazato in Motobu Town, only a couple kilometers from Nakijin Casle ruins, near the Motobu Town Office. To get there, drive to Motobu, following Route 84 from Nago City. At the traffic light 150 meters before the Town Office, turn right on Route 115 and follow the road uphill about two kilometers. You’ll see a large Gallery Lozan sign on the right.
