Developer bankruptcy stalls yet another Ginowan hotel

Date Posted: 2009-06-03

A new seaside hotel across from Ginowan Marina has fallen victim to developer bankruptcy, sending the new property’s management company into high gear notifying customers the Jinon House Hotel will not open this month.
Billed by developers as one of the best resort hotels in Ginowan City, the Jinon House Hotel management company, Green Hospitality Corporation, is now searching for answers as to what the now bankrupt Joint Corp. is going to do. The Tokyo-based real estate company is both owner and developer of the new hotel. It filed for bankruptcy Monday in Tokyo.
Green Hospitality has been accepting reservations for the Jinon House Hotel since February. Reservations are now being canceled, and the operating company is asking Joint Corp. to explain what happened.
The Jinon House Hotel is the latest in a series of setbacks in Ginowan City’s quest to build a robust international hotels and resorts base. Sheraton Hotel, which planned to build a new property adjacent to Jinon House, has cancelled the plan, telling Ginowan City leaders it no longer plans to come to Okinawa for now. Several other hotels were designed and planned for the Convention Center area over the years, but all have been scrubbed for financial reasons.
