Relaxation salon Life opens in SunabeDate Posted: 2009-05-22   Life caters to both men and women, with two private massage rooms available at the Sunabe location. Owner Akemi Tsunoda says the rooms are designed for couples, or for friends to share the experience of a top quality massage. Tsunoda launched Life yesterday in a quest to “give customers high quality massage at low prices.”Tsunoda first learned the art of aloma massage while in Tokyo, and began offering massages on Okinawa in 2005, a year after migrating from mainland Japan. Life uses special oils made by mixing aromatherapy oils and plant oil. The oils are available for sale for customers to use at home. Life offers three basic types of treatment: Aroma therapy and massage, facials and reflexology. There’s also an optional 15-minute hand, foot or head massage. Aroma therapy and massage A Course covers décolleté, chest, back, neck, hip and the back side of legs in a 50-minute treatment. The package is ¥4,980. The lower body B Course, also 50 minutes and ¥4,980, focuses on the feet, both sides of the legs, the back, hips and neck. A 50-minute facial course begins with counseling, Kucha cleansing (Kucha is an original Okinawa viscosity mineral strong in absorptivity, oil massage for shoulders and décolleté, a lotion pack and then completion. The facial is only ¥3,980. There’s also a 90-minute version of the facial treatment available, wrapping in hand and head massage, with customers choosing from four different facial packs. The Life Special, a two-hour course that includes both body massage and a facial designed to rid the customer of exhaustion and stress, runs ¥8,000. Tsunoda says all prices are based upon customers holding a gold membership, which is being offered at a 20%. The annual gold membership initiation fee, normally ¥5,000, is being discounted to only ¥980 through June, says Tsunoda, when the customer says “I read Japan Update.” Life is conveniently located only 200 meters from Pizza In, across from Kadena Air Base Gate 1. Turn into the shopping area at the intersection by the air base gate, at Family Mart at the corner to Sunabe seawall. Travel past one traffic light, and Life is on the right, next to the police station. Free parking is available. Only Yen is accepted at Life.
