Seether showcases Camp Schwab FestivalBy: Bill Charles Date Posted: 2009-05-22 ![]() ![]() ![]() Break out the sunscreen, pull on the shorts and swim togs and head for Oura Wan beach for the festival, which kicks off Saturday at 3 p.m. Saturday’s festivities run until 10 p.m., then resume 1 p.m. ~ 10 p.m. on Sunday with an assortment of fun activities, game booths and rides, Kiddie Land and a variety of great food, athletic events and free live entertainment. The festival is open to everyone on Okinawa. This year’s Schwab Fest features the Alternative Rock band Seether, brought to Okinawa by the USO. Joining Seether on the main stage will be Dave Ralston and local rock band 8-ball. Seether’s current album, Finding Beauty in Negative Spaces, has already gone gold in the United States with sales exceeding a million copies. Athletic events will be prominent, as will the festival’s ever popular free giveaways, which include a chance to win roundtrip tickets to the United States, or a seating upgrade, courtesy of United Airlines. There will, of course, be plenty of action on the beach. Pets, outside alcohol, coolers and bottles are not permitted at the Camp Schwab Festival. Free shuttle buses will provide transportation from outlying designated parking lots on Camp Schwab, and daiko taxi service will be available. |
