Hotto Motto tasty choices at 94 locations

Date Posted: 2009-05-22

New name, new menu, but the food is better than ever at Hotto Motto’s 94 Okinawa locations.

The ever-popular take-out food chain has gone through a transformation that includes a name change—Hotto Motto’s the new name for Hokka Hokka shops that dot the local landscape—and a new menu being unveiled tomorrow adding new rice bowls and luncheon boxes to its 50+ item lineup. Japan-grown chicken is at the core of new menu items; Tori Ten-Don at ¥330 is a big bowl of crispy fried chicken with a special homemade sauce served over rice. The Tori Ten-Bento at ¥440 is a box lunch with fried chicken and rice.

Hotto Motto’s owner touts the healthy aspects of its take out cuisine, which he says is both cheap and tasty. The fried chicken sauce is made with lemon and vinegar, while he happily reports portion sizes of juicy fried chicken have been increased. The plump, juicy chicken is coated with a tasty flour and then fried, giving a crispy, sweet tasting tempura crust. The best part of the deal, he says, is that every order is cooked-to-order at every branch to insure maximum hot freshness.

The fast-food take-out chain has more than 50 items on the menu, including party plates ranging from ¥3,000 to ¥5,000 depending on size. Most lunches cost ¥290-590. There are also separate salads for ¥100-150, and mini-size soups are available for ¥150.

The newest Hotto Motto shop has just opened on Hwy 58 in Hamby. The shop is open 24 hours a day. English menu is available, and dollars are also accepted.
