Rock band in Okinawa on first-ever USO TourDate Posted: 2009-05-21 The band will entertain service members, drawing from its deep catalog of rock hits and high energy antics in a USO/Armed Forces entertainment Tour. Seether will be performing at the Camp Schwab Festival this weekend, and will perform a total of four free, exclusive concerts, and will interact with troops. The band will be at Kadena USO at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday to greet fans and sign autographs. Seether is Shaun Morgan and Dale Stewart from Johannesburg, South Africa, and U.S. born Troy McLawhorn and John Humphrey. The band formed in 1999, releasing Disclaimer, its first American album, in 2002. Seether has become one of the core artists on rock radio, selling more than five million records worldwide. Seether won the Best Alternative Award at th MTV Africa Music Awards last yar. Seether is capping its 20-month tour with its first USO experience. Fresh off an arena outing with Nickelback, the band has become one of rock’s major attraction. Chart-topping successes include number one singles Remedy, Fake It, Rise Above This, and gold-certified Broken and smash hit Careless Whisper. Each of Seether’s albums have been certified gold, and the current Finding Beauty in Negative Spaces is quickly approaching platinum status. “There are thousands of men and women serving the U.S. who reach out to the band regularly, says guitarist and vocalist Shaun Morgan. “touring with the USO and performing for our military fans is something we’ve always wanted to do, and this is going to rock.” In peace and war, the USO has consistently delivered its special brand of entertainment and comfort to military families around the world. Celebrity volunteers traveled to 27 countries and 23 states last year, entertaining more than 236,000 GI’s and family members. |
