Testing power lands three marines in trouble

Date Posted: 2002-10-12

Three service members from Camp Hansen were arrested after they turned a parked car upside down on a parking lot in Kin Town.

According to Ishikawa Police the three men, aged 20 to 24, had been drinking heavily in local bars. On their way back to the barracks they got an idea to test their power by trying to lift a car they saw on a parking lot. A military police patrol saw them just when they had managed to turn the car upside down, and arrested all three. They were taken to Ishikawa police for investigation.

An Ishikawa Police spokesman said that all three were heavily drunk, one to the degree that he had to be taken to the clinic on base for treatment. When questioned the two other servicemen could not explain a motive except “We wanted to test our power and see if we could carry that car.”
