Used Kimono Bargain Sale Friday, Saturday

Date Posted: 2002-10-04

Now is your chance to purchase the kimono of your dreams! From Friday, Oct 4, through Sunday Oct. 6, the Okinawa Convention Center will host a Used Kimono Bargain Sale. Last year’s kimono fair attracted so much attention from the general public that the organizers decided to do it again. Because new kimonos are often extravagantly expensive, and because they are usually only worn once or twice on special occasions, there is a good market for second-hand kimonos. These kimonos on sale are sold at prices between 80% and 90% lower than you’d pay for new. Perhaps you will find the kimono of your dreams at an affordable price.

Washable kimonos are on sale for ¥1,000 and up, children’s kimonos sell for ¥3,000 and up, silk kimonos go for ¥5,000 or more, and wedding kimonos, the jewels of the sale, cost ¥15,000 or more. If an obi, the sash that is tied around the waist when wearing a kimono, is more what you are looking for, they sell for ¥2,000 and up. For more information, call Kimono “Takikawa” Okinawa at 098-936-5874 or 090-8171-5388.
