Golden Kings have home court advantage for playoffs

Date Posted: 2009-04-24

The Ryukyu Golden Kings will head into the Basketball Japan League Conference Playoffs next month on their home court, thanks to solid play that has them in first place in the Western Conference.

The Western Conference Playoffs are May 5th and 6th at Naha City Gymnasium, with games starting at 2 p.m. The Golden Kings earned the right because of league rules that specify 1st and 2nd place teams in each conference win home court.

The Golden Kings will play the fourth place conference team in Naha, while the conference second place team is at home to play the #3 finalist. Winners of those contests will travel to Tokyo’s Ariake Coliseum on May 16th and 17th.

May 16th will see the conference championships for both Western and Eastern Conferences. The League Championship, as well as the consolation round for third place, take place on the 17th.

Tickets are now soon to go on sale for the May 5th and 6th playoffs. On April 18th, corporation members of the Golden Kings, and Club Kings Gold Members can reserve tickets by Ticket Pia Tokuden, 092-708-9955 between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Each corporation member can reserve up to 10 tickets. Each Club Kings Gold Member can reserve up to six tickets. Once reservations are made, they must be paid for at Okinawa Family Mart on April 18th or 19th between 10 a.m. and 11 p.m.
