Stress melts away at ALA Relaxation Salon

Date Posted: 2009-03-27

Tense, tired and stressed, clients make their way to ALA Relaxation Salon to shed the trials and tribulations of the day, luxuriating in the tranquil atmosphere that combines a traditional Japanese home with the accents of Indonesia and Thailand.

The ability to relax and unwind comes quickly at ALA, clients readily announce, thanks to the warm and inviting atmosphere, which one described as “like visiting the home of a friend.” ALA Relaxation Salon, which offers a variety of massage techniques, including original, oil and herbal massages, as well as Thai traditional massage and Thai Foot Reflexology, has the perfect regimen for each client. There’s even a special hot stone therapy available. The Avocado oil, which is a favorite essential oil with high food value, is applied to the full body by estheticians’ great combination techniques. The fragrance, coupled with the hand skills, make the session an ALA original care treatment.

ALA Relaxation Salon in Chatan can accommodate five clients at a time in its several massage rooms, and even offers a special couple’s room where couples can enjoy relaxing massage together. ALA is open weekdays 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Saturdays, Sundays and holidays 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Appointments can be made at the Chatan Branch at (098) 936-7369, or the Naha Branch at (098) 861-5023.

The Northern Style Thai Massage is increasingly popular, with therapists having been trained in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Thai massage, a combination of yoga, stretching and acupressure, leaves clients relaxed and refreshed. The technique now being offered is called Acupressure in New York and Thai Bangkok classic style massage is the original care. ALA original massage is given gently and politely to stiff muscles, using fingers and elbows to enhance good blood circulation. ALA therapists recommend the longer sessions, as the hand skills are so finely and gently done, they a person is totally relaxed upon completion.

ALA is offering Level 1 and Level 2 Thai Massage classes. Each class is one week long.

“I’ve had both the original and Thai massage, and both are very relaxing,” says Professor Newbern, a University of Maryland University College psychologist, “but I recommend the Original massage.” He says “it’s similar to shiatsu, but involves more stretching, which is helpful because I have a lot of muscle soreness from working out at the gym.” As a psychologist, Newbern says “speaking from a psychologist’s perspective, this massage renews both body and mind.”

One of ALA’s therapists, Kaz, joined the Okinawa team in 2004, coming to the island from a therapist position in New York. “Working as a therapist, I treated a lot of clients, including those with stresses from the catastrophe of September 11th,” he says, “and with those skills and experiences of New York, I have a good time every single day here with many good clients.”

ALA Relaxation Salon is on the worldwide web, http://www.alarelaxation.com/newenglishmain.html.
