¥9,000 domestic fares coming April 1st for seniors flying ANA

Date Posted: 2009-03-19

Senior citizens will be getting a special break from All Nippon Airways beginning April 1st.

The airline says it will begin offering ¥9,000 one-way fares on all domestic routes for those 65 years of age or older. ANA is calling its new program Senior Sorawari, and requires passengers to ask for the special fare on the day of departure. The airline says passengers may not book reservations in advance to claim the fare. ANA said the new fare will be available at ANA counters in airports, and only to individuals enrolled in ANA’s frequent flier program.

ANA says the new program is designed to spur travel demand for elderly citizens. “We have reduced the fares to a level that will enable elderly citizens to take advantage of air travel to visit grandchildren living in far off locations,” an ANA official said.
