Chubby's BBQ debuts Friday in new locationDate Posted: 2009-01-30 ![]() ![]() ![]() Owners Reed Leinster and his wife, Chizuru Leinster, have relocated the barbeque restaurant to a more central location close to Camp Foster and Kadena Air Base on Highway 58. As before, Chubby’s BBQ promises everything is ‘fresh off the grill’ and cooked only after a three-day marinade in that special homemade sauce. The expansive menu has something for everyone, including a couples’ ‘Dinner for Lovers’ with spring rolls, soup, salad, French fries, a pork cutlet, BBQ chicken and ribs, and dessert for only ¥3,850 for two. The Leinsters offer a BBQ combination chicken, ribs and sausage dinner for ¥2,450, a BBQ Rib Dinner for ¥1,980, a BBQ chicken dinner for ¥1,780, and a BBQ sausage dinner for only ¥1,580. They offer kids’ dinners for ¥750. All barbeque dinners are served with soup, salad, rice and French fries. Chubby’s BBQ originally opened more than a year ago, with the Leinsters teaming with their best friend, Willie Brooks, near Kadena. They’ve expanded now, with more space, so people can even have parties at Chubby’s BBQ. Chubby’s BBQ is open Tuesday through Sunday, 11:30 a.m. ~ 2:30 p.m. for lunch, and 5:30 p.m. ~ 10 p.m. for dinner. A special catering menu is now offered for five, 10, 15 or 10 people, with pries ranging from ¥9,800 ~ 38,700. Each includes ribs, chicken, sausage, French fries, soup, rice or bread. Special arrangements are available for parties of 20~40 people. Chubby’s BBQ also features a two-hour ‘All You Can Drink’ deal on soft drinks, beer and Awamori for ¥1,980. Both yen and dollars are accepted at Chubby’s BBQ; no credit cards. Parking is readily available. Chubby’s BBQ offers 10% discounts with ads from Japan Update issues on 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month. The restaurant at Chatan 2-8-11 in Chatan, is behind the McDonald’s between Camp Foster Kitamae Gate junction and Chatan junction, near Book Box. |
