POP Circus features acts from eight countries

The circus is back in town, and excitement under the big top has never been so good.

The Pursuit of Pleasure (POP) Circus is performing daily at the Toyosaki Town Open Space, inside the big top tent, with dozens of circus acts filling the arena here for the first time since 2002. More than 150,000 took in the POP circus then, when the big top tent was set up at Omoromachi. The circus will be in Okinawa through Sunday, February 22nd.

Itís a circus, complete with performing dogs, high wire and trapeze artists, and of course, the clowns. POP circus has been performing throughout Japan since 1996, displaying feats of daring and artistry to more than 6 million people.

The POP circus ringmaster says itís never been better, as the performance space within the big top has expanded, and the aerial acts are more daring than ever, leaving spectators breathless. The circus, he says, is a true family adventure, where everything is fun.

Tickets in advance are •2,500 for everyone 16 and older, while childrenís tickets are •1,200 for those 3~15, add •300 at the gate. Tickets are available at Family Mark, Lawson, Coop Okinawa, Ryubo, Okinawa Mitsukoshi, Marusan Laundry and other local locations. The sale of advance tickets ends Jan. 31. Parking is free at the Toyzaki Town open space.
