‘Best of Okinawa Living’ autograph sessions set

As the holiday gift-giving season approaches, the ‘Best of Okinawa Living’ book is moving to the front of AAFES BookMark shelves and the authors will be autographing individual copies.

The 300+ page pictorial compilation has been produced by the award-winning staff of Okinawa Living magazine, a product of Marine Corps Community Services Okinawa. The book showcases Okinawa’s beauty, touching on the islands’ gusuku, or castles, a chronicles the prefecture’s historical highlights.

Holidays, special occasions and festivals, a vital part of Okinawan and Japanese culture, are featured prominently, including details and background on the Naha Great Tug-of-War that takes place each October. Not overlooked is traditional Okinawan cuisine, with a chapter shedding light on the miraculous food and drink of the islands.

Writer, Managing Editor and Photographer Mike Daley, Art Director and Photographer Henry Ortega and Photographer John Burgreen will be at the Kadena BX to sign copies of The best of Okinawa Living and Postcards of the Best of Okinawa Living on Saturday, November 1st, from 1 ~ 4 p.m. The trio will be at the Camp Foster PX on Sunday, November 2nd, 1 ~ 4 p.m., for additional booksigning opportunities.

The Best of Okinawa Living sells for $34.95, and is available at select AAFES BookMark locations.
