Ghosts prevail at Lester Haunted House

Date Posted: 2008-10-24

It began not too long ago, when a working party from the U.S. Naval Hospital was tasked with cleaning up an abandoned building on Camp Lester. The mission did not go as scheduled or expected, leaving officials uncertain how to proceed.

It seemed that of the six men assigned the task, only one returned to his duty station, and even he was ultimately deemed completely and incurably insane by hospital psychiatrists. His incoherent ramblings before slipping into a permanent catatonic state were about being "trapped in a labyrinth" and the building being
"haunted."

Worried, hospital officials dispatched others, who made subsequent searches during the day. They turned up no signs of the rest of the working party with the exception of a torn, bloody work boot. This event, having caused quite a stir at the Naval Hospital, leaving its leadership at first uncertain what to do about the eery building.

With candor and openness, officials have decided to open the so called "haunted house" for a limited time during the Halloween season to give the community a chance to see firsthand the horrors within.

'The Lester Labyrinth', as the hospital refers to the spooky building, will be open to the general public tomorrow and Saturday evenings from 6 p.m. ~ 10:30 p.m. A nominal $2 fee will be charged to each individual wanting to venture into the haunted structure, and officials caution that the experience is frightful, even extremely so, and not for small children.

The Lester Labyrinth, located directly behind the hospital, will again be open to the public next Friday, October 30th, from 6 p.m. ~ 9:30 p.m., and on Saturday, October 31st, from 8 p.m. ~ 11 p.m. Officials say adventurers should enter the Camp Lester main gate, across from Starbucks, and follow the signs (if you dare). The Lester Labyrinth is open to all DoD ID card holders.
