A housewife was bitten by a habu snake that had entered her house, and a policeman who came to investigate was also bitten by the same snake in Tsukazan, Heabaru Town on Saturday.

According to Haebaru Police, they received a 110-call from a woman who said that she had just been bitten by a habu snake inside her house. The police called an ambulance and sent a two-man patrol to investigate.

They found the woman inside with her leg badly swollen. After they searched the house, one of them went out to the garden to try to see if the snake went there. However, in the garden the habu found the officer first and attacked biting him on the leg. The officer had a snake pole and he managed to beat the snake to the ground.

When the ambulance arrived it took both the housewife and the police officer to a hospital. The housewife’s injury requires her to stay a week in the hospital. The police officer was treated and sent home to recover. The habu did not survive the encounter.
