Plumeria Garden love hotel approaches first anniversary

Date Posted: 2008-10-10

They’re called Fashion Hotels, Boutique Hotels and Dating Hotels, and they’re a hot item for couples or friends in Japan and Korea who want a bit of privacy.

Plumeria Garden Hotel is one of Okinawa’s most modern, opening last November, and keeping with the tradition of discretion and privacy. Unlike American motels, Plumeria Garden guests park their cars directly in a space close to the room, and enter unseen by others. No front desk, no housekeeping staff, no encounters with other visitors.

A visit to Plumeria Garden Hotel is inexpensive, with a ¥2,000 rate for the first two hours. Each room has a unique décor, and includes a double bed, big screen television and game machine, DVD player and video, too. There are also vending machines in each room. Plumeria Garden, like many love hotels, offers specials and free goods and services, such as “Free Time” where the customer pays for two hours and can stay longer. Each room is limited, however, to two persons.

Safety is paramount at Plumeria, with automatic locks on rooms that cannot be opened from the inside. Hotel staff remotely open the doors at visit’s end after fees are paid through an automatic vacuum transfer system.

To get to Plumeria Garden Hotel, turn off Hwy 330 at the traffic light in front of the Masonic Building, and follow the road around it. The hotel is behind the building next to Yagubaru hospital.
