Crude oil price dip means cheaper gas

Date Posted: 2008-09-05

It’s only a small respite after two months of soaring price hikes attributed to fluctuating oil prices, but drivers say they’ll be happy with any breaks.

Japanese government officials say gas prices are dropping ¥10 per liter, one of the small bright spots in an economy that has seen prices for everything from automobiles to beer, cheese and drinks go up over the past couple months. Officials say electricity prices will be reduced slightly, also thanks to the easing oil crisis.

Restaurants say the news, while good, still won’t deter price hikes ranging from 3~20% this month.
