Marine Corps hosts Futenma Flightline FairDate Posted: 2008-08-22    The event is held to celebrate and appreciate the friendship between the US Marine Corps and Japanese communities in a festive atmosphere. This year’s fair will provide an opportunity for local residents island-wide to come aboard MCAS Futenma to enjoy American food, music, entertainment, fireworks and an exhibition of U.S. Marine Corps aircraft. Although this is an open-gate event for all local citizens, members of the news media in a working capacity must be escorted by Marine Corps Public Affairs representatives pursuant to III Marine Expeditionary Forces/Marine Corps Bases Japan policy. Unescorted media will not be authorized aboard the air station. The news media will have the opportunity to cover the event on Saturday, Aug. 23, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. There will be an opportunity to hear welcoming remarks by the air station’s commanding officer, observe the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest, the Open Bench Press Competition, a Japanese police dog demonstration and performances by two local bands. Media members interested in covering the Futenma Flightline Fair must contact the III MEF/MCBJ Public Affairs Office at OkinawaPao@usmc.mil no later than 12 p.m. Friday, August. 22. III MEF/MCBJ Public Affairs will send out final coordinating instructions before 4:30 p.m. on August 22. 在沖米海兵隊、普天間フライトライン・フェアを開催 在沖米海兵隊バトラー基地 – 在沖米海兵隊は、今月23日と24日の両日、普天間飛行場にて第30回目の普天間フライトライン・フェアを開催します。 このイベントは、米海兵隊と地元の方々との友好を称えると同時に、感謝の意を込めて催されます。地域の方々には普天間飛行場を訪れ、アメリカの食べ物や音楽、娯楽、花火、そして海兵隊航空機の展示などを堪能いただける素晴らしい機会です。 このフェアは一般開放のイベントですが、第三海兵遠征軍・在日米海兵隊基地規則に準拠し、報道関係者が取材を目的として入域される場合、海兵隊報道部のエスコートが必須となります。エスコートされていない報道関係者は、基地入域が認められません。尚、報道関係者には指定時間枠が設けられており、8月23日（土曜日）午後5時から午後7時まで、取材が許可されます。普天間飛行場基地司令官による歓迎の挨拶をはじめ、ホットドッグ早食いコンテストやベンチプレス大会、日本の警察犬の実演、また二組の地元のバンドの演奏などが目玉です。 このイベントの取材を希望される報道関係者の方々は、8月22日（金曜日）正午までに出席される方の名前、携帯電話番号、報道機関名、職種、車両のナンバーをご記入の上、海兵隊報道部、メディア課 |
