Tokashiki Island faces water shortage, cuts supply
Date Posted: 2003-09-13
Tokashiki Village officials facing their worst water shortage in ten years decided to cut the water supply between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m. every day. That marks the first time since 1993 that the officials have had to shut the taps. Officials took the measure after the level of water in the island’s reservoir sank to 42.5 percent of its capacity. The island has had no rainfall worth mentioning in several months.
