Registration kicks off for Naha Marathon

Organizers are now accepting registrations for the largest marathon in Japan, the Naha Marathon, to be run Dec. 7th.

Registration for the 24th Naha Marathon will be open until Sep. 26th for internet sign-up, and through Aug. 9th at the Naha Marathon Office. A total of 23,448 runners participated in the Dec. 2, 2007 race.

Runners may take their application paperwork to the Naha Marathon Office, then transfer the registration fee to the bank or post office. Organizers say paperwork is available at both banks and post offices for the money transfers. This year’s entry fee is ¥4,500 for adults, while the fee for those under age 18 or over age 65 is ¥3,500.

Registration fees include tee shirts, the number card and insurance. A parental agreement must be provided for runners under 18.

Registration sites, aside from the Naha Marathon Office, re the Naha City Office, Mekaru Branch, Kunigami Village office, Ogimi Village office, Higashi Village office, branch offices of the Okinawa Times, Ryukyu Broadcasting offices, and at Ryukyu Bank.
