Oasis Bazaar a mecca for international art and antiques

Date Posted: 2008-07-04

Distinctive Egyptian Papyrus paintings adorn the wall, while handmade perfume bottles draw customers to the shelves as Middle Eastern Hookah Pipes compete for attention on the floors of Oasis Bazaar.

Oasis Bazaar, specializing in antiques and reproduction furniture from China, Okinawa and mainland Japan, and across Asia to the Middle East, is a one-of-a-kind store where originality, quality and competitive prices reign across the showroom. Oasis managers say their goal is to offer the very best selections, in a relaxing browsing and shopping atmosphere, while featuring the best prices on the island.

Joining with America in celebrating its Independence Day, Oasis Bazaar is offering a special clearance sale Friday through Monday, with prices slashed 15% on all furniture, 20% off the bigger hookah pipes, and 20% off all perfume bottles. In business serving Okinawa for just under a year, Oasis Bazaar has quickly gained a reputation of having the best products from national and international artists.

The most popular item at Oasis is the Step Tansu, a unique cabinet that originated in mainland Japan with a shape in form of steps. The multi-functional step cabinet, which was originally designed to slip under steps leading the a home’s second floor, can be divided into several pieces, and drawers and doors open from both sides. Offered in a variety of designs, sizes and colors, including white through green, yellow, black, blue, orange and others, the step cabinets are a bargain at Oasis Bazaar, selling for only $480 for the large 73” high model.

With the cabinet on the shopping list, Oasis offers decorative items such as salt lamps from Pakistan and Turkish lamps to sit atop it.

Oasis Bazaar offers a home layaway program, provides delivery service, accepts major credit cards and checks, and is open daily except Wednesdays, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Oasis Bazaar is located on Highway 58 between Camp Foster and Futenma Marine Corps Air Station, opposite the new Harley Davidson shop. Coming south on Highway 58 from Kadena Air Base and Camps Lester and Foster, make a U-turn after Futenma, driving back north. Look for a building with a big statue of a dog on top. Oasis Bazaar is located on the first floor. Parking is available in front of the store.
