Torii Beach to blend smooth jazz and winesBy: Bill Charles Date Posted: 2008-06-26    The festival takes place Saturday, July 5, from 4 p.m. to midnight, with a dazzling fireworks display set for 10 p.m. The Torii Beach Jazz & Wine Festival is free, and open to everyone. The jazz is free, while organizers will be charging for the wine tasting and hors d’oeuvres. Advance tickets, available at Torii MWR facilities and the Kadena USO, are $20. Tickets at the beach will be $25. Festival organizers say an array of food, beer and wine will be available for sale by vendors. The Torii Beach Jazz & Wine Festival takes place on the beach, and attendees are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs and friends for an evening under the stars with Okinawa’s finest jazz musicians. The evening fireworks will be accompanied by a live performance by jazz pianist Fumio Yara. Festival organizers say July 12th has been set as a rain date. No personal alcoholic beverages, glass or pets will be permitted on Torii Beach. |
