Military wife admits mailing Hemp narcotics into Japan

Date Posted: 2008-06-13

The 30-year-old American military wife has confessed to using the postal system to smuggle hemp into the country through the U.S. Military Postal System.

The Okinawa City Police have sent the case files to the Naha District Prosecutor’s Office, along with the woman’s June 5th confession. A package arriving at mainland Japan’s Chuubu International Airport was detected as having narcotics in it January 30th.

The package was allowed to proceed to Camp Kinser, where Okinawa District Customs Office investigated, and identified the package. Customs then notified the Okinawa City Police department, which called the woman and asked if it was hers. She told police “yes, it’s mine” and said she smuggled it into Japan because “I wanted to use it by myself.”
