Stateside bands headline weekend Schwab FestivalBy: Bill Charles Date Posted: 2008-05-24    The 2008 Camp Schwab Festival opens Saturday at 3 p.m., running to 10 p.m. Festival day two, Sunday, runs 1 p.m. ~ 10 p.m. at the Beach Head parking area on Camp Schwab. On tap are an assortment of fun activities ranging from game booths and rides to a kiddie land, to food booths offering cultural delights including soba and sushi to live entertainment. Two hit bands appear this weekend: Puddle of Mudd and Saliva. Puddle of Mudd is famous for several hits including ‘She Hates Me’, ‘Blurry’, and the group’s latest hit single ‘Psycho’. Memphis-based Saliva, best known for a powerful rap-rock sound captured in their hit single ‘Click Click Boom’ shares the spotlight. Local groups S.K.F., Street Dance, Afrikasia, Musika, Tahitian Dancers and Downfall will also grace the stage throughout the weekend. Festival goers have a chance to win a variety of prizes this year, including one of two tickets to one of three U.S. destinations served by United Airlines, or seating upgrades courtesy of United Airlines and Omega World Travel. The 2008 Schwab Fest is open to everyone, island-wide. Free shuttle buses will provide transportation to and from designated parking lots on Camp Schwab, and a “daiko” taxi service will also be available. Pets, outside alcohol, coolers and bottles are not permitted at the Schwab Festival. |
