Renaissance Resort Okinawa Gives New Life to JazzBy: Takeshi Yokokawa Date Posted: 2003-09-06  Renaissance Resort Okinawa is stages its second "Jazz in Renaissance" event on Sep. 13. The hotel held the first "Jazz in Renaissance" in July to celebrate its 15th anniversary. The event proved very popular and received rave reviews due in part to its special guest, Sumiko Yoseyama, a nationally renowned Okinawan jazz singer. Encouraged by the success, the hotel invited Yoseyama and the Masakuni Nakamoto Orchestra to return for the second "Jazz in Renaissance" to offer guests the best of live jazz. The performance takes place at Renaissance Resort Okinawa's outdoor stage starting at 8:00 p.m., with the gates opening at 7:30 p.m. In the event of rain, the concert will be held inside the hotel. Tickets cost \2,200 in advance and \2,500 at the door; a free drink and raffle ticket are included.
