Okinawa City mayor seeks Children’s Park subsidiesDate Posted: 2008-03-27 Mitsuko Tomon says “This children’s park is actually more than an Okinawa City facility, but one for all prefecture children to come and visit the zoo.” Tomon has taken her appeal to Terumi Iha, Director of the Prefecture Welfare Section, asking for the subsidy money to be restored. She says if the budget cuts stand, “it will be bad for operations and will give misgivings to the public.” The Okinawa City Children’s Park has received ¥84 million in operations money from the Prefecture every year since 2003, but since initial publication of the 2008 budget, there’s been a cutback to ¥74,080,000. Tomon says “the Children’s Park needs to keep its regular budget, and the subsidy money should continue.” |
