Rough weekend for the Ryukyu Golden KingsDate Posted: 2008-03-26 This time it was a very different story. The Five Arrows played like they were possessed and nothing was going to stop them. On Saturday night the first game of their two game series was the worst defeat for the Ryukyu Kings this season. They lost by 38 points. Their previous worst was a loss by 21 points (86-107) on Dec. 2nd against the Heat Devils from Oita. Right from the start of the first game the Five Arrows took the lead and never looked back. After the first quarter, the Five Arrows had a nine point lead. The Kings played good defense and held the Five Arrows to just 11 points in the second quarter but the Kings had a hard time scoring themselves. After halftime the score was 31-39 but that was the closest it would get as after half time the Five Arrows just exploded and scored 65 points in the second half to win the game 66-104. On Sunday the game started out a bit better. After the first quarter the Kings were only down by 7 points (22-29) but once again the Five Arrows were just too much for the Kings and pulled away. By halftime the Five Arrows were leading by 16 points (42-58). The Kings had a very bad 3rd quarter (only scoring 11 points to 25 points by the Five Arrows) but came back strong in the fourth quarter and even outscored the Five Arrows by 8 (33-25) but unfortunately it was not enough and a bit too late. The Five Arrows had built up such a lead that they still easily won by 22 points (86-108). The next two home games for the Ryukyu Golden Kings are Friday, Mar. 28, at 19:30 at the Naha Gym and Saturday, Mar. 29 at 14:00, also at the Naha Gym. They will be taking on the Rizing from Fukuoka. |
