An elderly man narrowly escaped losing his lifes fortune, 1.2 million, in a fraud scheme, thanks to a woman who saw him trying to use his cellular telephone and a bank ATM at the same time.

A lady shopping nearby watched the man, and knew something was wrong. Oh my, she remembers telling police, he could be talking to a fraudster. She explained her husband used to work in a bank, and knew of bank fraud schemes.

The woman immediately called the bank and explained what she thought was happening, and a bank officer immediately raced to the scene and intercepted the man and explained the situation before hed completed his transaction. The bank says it will reward the woman for her vigilance and concern.

The fraud con went down as the old man received a call from a man claiming to be from the Nanjo City Office, telling him hed received a tax refund. The man was then given instructions on how to go to an ATM and follow instructions on how to apply for the tax refund. He followed instructions, with the bank official arriving just in time to save him and his money. The bank checked with the Nanjo City Office, which denied having called the man. The bank then accessed the account via computer and blocked the transactions, which had two 500,000 payments transferred to another account.
