Date Posted: 2008-02-07

Registrations are now being accepted for the Churahana Cup international yacht race, a 228 kilometer race between Keelung, Taiwan, and Ishigaki Port.

The bi-annual Churahana Cup Race—Churahana means Beautiful Flower—will be held May 4th, starting from Keeling Harbor and arriving about 5 p.m. May 5th at the Ishigaki Harbor finish line. The NPO Yaeyama Yacht Club, in announcing the 10th anniversary event, set April 15th as the registration deadline.

Kenya Yasumura, chairman of NPO Yaeyama Yacht Club, says the first race was held as an international event in 1988. Entrée fees are ¥30,000 per yacht, and ¥10,000 per crew member. Entry information is available at (098) 082-0692.
