Ozato Preschool opens its time capsule after 15 years

Date Posted: 2008-01-11

The youngsters at Ozato Preschool were only five years old when they put their precious memorabilia inside a time capsule in the school yard in 1993.

This week, only days before they celebrate Coming of Age Day as 20-year-olds, the former students were back on the school grounds, digging up the time capsule and excitedly reminiscing about their childhoods. The time capsule was buried in Nanjo Citys Ozato area, at the Ozato Preschool, and 85 students gleefully gathered to pore over the pictures, letters, stories and all sorts of old things theyd put into the capsule.

For a few hours, they slipped back in time, laughing and behaving like kids, remembering what theyd done. One student found a letter from a parent, in which the father wrote I wish you would become a lawyer. It was poetic, because the youth is now studying law at a university. The school principal was on hand, telling the gathering Im so happy to see all of you becoming such great adults. He assured them I hope you are the power of the next generation. Please make a peaceful world and have happy lives.
