US Naval Hospital Okinawa's First Baby of 2008

CAMP LESTER Okinawa, Japan—The first baby born in 2008 at US Naval Hospital Okinawa Japan is Vaughn Dimapilis, a baby boy born Tuesday, January 1, 2008 at 1:42 a.m. Japan Standard Time (JST) to Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class Nayla and Victor Dimapilis.

Vaughn weighed in at 7 lbs., 0.5 oz. (3190g) and measured 19 inches (48.26cm) long.

Mother HM3 Nayla Dimapilis, is a native of Batangas, Phillippines. She is assigned to U.S. Naval Hospital Okinawa, Japan where she works in the Internal Medicine Clinic. Vaughn’s father, Victor Dimapilis, also of Batangas, Phillippines, is employed at the U.S. Naval Hospital Postal Facility on Camp Lester.

Vaughn is the Dimapilis family’s first child. Both mother and baby are doing fine following a routine natural delivery.
