Teen in coma days after fall from moving car roof

Date Posted: 2007-12-21

It was supposed to be a dangerous game, and it turned out that way for a youngster who rode on the roof of a moving car and lost his grip, falling to the pavement.

The teen, a high school student, remains in coma following the December 16th accident. Hospital officials say the boy has a brain contusion.

Ginowan City Police say two boys were playing in the City Offices parking lot when they decided to “play a dangerous game.” The boys, former classmates at a local junior high school, took a car to have some fun. One boy drove the car, zigzagging down the road while the second youth was clinging to the car roof. The driver told police the car was going at a high speed when the boy laying on the roof apparently lost his grip and slid from the car to the road, striking his head.

He told police “we agreed to play like this, and it was just for fun.”
