Date Posted: 2007-12-19

Okinawa City wants to make it easier for citizens to commute within the community, and has launched a new bus service to do it.
The busses will make 19 daily round trips, starting from Okinawa City offices, to Okinawa Children’s Land, Koza Music Town, Korinza building, Misato area, Miyazato, Ageda area, then reverse course back to city hall. Busses will run daily from 7 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Fares will be ¥140 for adults and ¥70 for children.
The two-month trial, dubbed ‘Demonstration Experiment’, will determine if the community really wants local bus service. The busses began operating December 15th, with passengers riding free the first two days.
Kadena Air Base personnel can board the bus at a stop in front of Gate 2, with the first stop the Okinawa City Culture Center, and then Okinawa Children’s Land Park.
