Con man bilks woman of Y14M by posing as her troubled sonDate Posted: 2007-12-14 The man say “I made a terrible mistake, and one of my girl friends has gotten pregnant by me, and she doesn’t want the baby. I’m in trouble now if I don’t pay the out of court settlement money.” Explained how she should transfer money to him, so she went to the bank and made eight transactions over a five-day period, sending the money where he told her. The scam was uncovered when the woman, after transferring the money, called her son to make sure he received it. Shocked, the real son asked “What? What money? What are you talking about?” It was then the elderly woman realized the man who called saying he was her son, wasn’t. Okinawa City Police are now investigating, trying to trace the money path. |
