Cyclists stage series of bag snatches in Naha City

Four Naha women are out nearly ¥250,000 as a two-man team riding motorcycles swept past them and stole their handbags.
Police say the motorcycle riders were wearing helmets and jackets, and none of the victims was able to identify them. The cyclists would approach the women from behind, ripping the purses away and then speed away. The first incident happened at 11 p.m. Saturday in Naha City’s Makishi area, with the victim losing ¥110,000. A second snatch occurred at 4:40 a.m., also in the Makishi area, with the woman having ¥20,000 in her bag.
The third theft took place in the Asato area about 7 p.m. Sunday, with the woman losing ¥80,000, and a fourth incident Monday, again in the Makishi area. That woman had ¥37,000 stolen.
