Native Americans being honored this afternoon at Torii Station

Frederick P. Brings Him Back will be keynote speaker this afternoon as the U.S. Army honors Native Americans in Native American Heritage Month ceremonies on Torii Station in Yomitan.

Brings Him Back, a Lakota Sioux born and raised on the Pine Ridge Reservtion in South Dakota, is a U.S. Army sergeant with the 1st Battalion, 1st Air Defense Artillery Regiment. “The traditions of the Lakota Sioux were passed down to me by my uncle and grandfather,” says Brings Him Back, “and I, too, teach my children the traditions of the Lakota Sioux.”

Ceremonies begin at 3 p.m. today at the Coral Cove Community Club. The celebration includes a slide show presentation on native Americans, and includes an Open House.
