Karaoke session turns into bar brawl

Date Posted: 2007-11-28

A customer using a remote control unit to change music in midst of a song, while a patron was singing that song, led to a weekend bar fight at an Itoman City snack bar.
Tadao Nishitani, a Japanese Self Defense Force member, was singing at the Nishizaki area bar when another customer switched songs. Angry, Nishitani told the man to “stop disturbing us, and let us finish singing.” The other patron, a 40-year-old postal worker, continued disturbing the 33-year-old Nishitani, leading him to pick up an awamori bottle and smack him on the head with it.
Nishitani then assaulted the other customer, striking him in the ear and head with his fist. Thesnack officers called police, who arrested Nishitani. The postal worker was taken to a hospital for treatment. Doctors say the man will need two weeks to heal.
