Ryukyu Kings put up good fight against Kagawa

Date Posted: 2007-11-27

This past weekend the Takamatsu Five Arrows from Kagawa Prefecture came to Okinawa to take on our Ryukyu Kings. The Five Arrows were the runners up in last year’s Championship game – the winners were Osaka Evessa.
Saturday night the Kings lost 90-80 but the game was much closer than the score shows. In fact, they were within a few points with just a couple of minutes to go. They were also down by almost 30 at one point but showed great poise and got back into the game only to lose at the end.
Sunday’s game was as exciting as they come. Again, they lost but this game was a fight to the very end. In fact, the Kings had several chances to win during regulation time but could not do it – ended 75-75. During the first overtime, the Kings took an early lead but once again they could not finish off the Five Arrows as they came fighting back in the last seconds – 83-83. In the second over time the Five Arrows took an early lead and it was the Kings who had to fight to get back in it. It looked they there might be a third overtime but the Five Arrows showed their experience and held off the Kings for a 92-89 win.
Despite the two loses the Kings played very well against such a good and experienced team. The future looks very good for the Kings. If you are interested in going to future Kings games, please contact Parties International @ www.partiesinternational.jp
