Homeless man admits setting fire to Ginowan pachinko parlor

Date Posted: 2007-11-15

Masakazu Fukage surrendered to Ginowan City Police, telling them he accidentally set an abandoned pachinko parlor ablaze November 9th.

Police were surprised, but a check with the fire department proved the 58-year-old was telling the truth. A fire had broken out in the old pachinko parlor, and firefighters battled the blaze in the hall’s second floor warehouse before getting it under control after the and half hours. There was nobody in the building, nobody was injured, and fireman had no idea about what started the fire.

Fukage, who flatly told police “I set the fire in the pachinko hall”, told police he’d been living in the building since July. He says he accidentally started the fire while using his lighter. The pachinko parlor, in the Oyama area of Ginowan City, has been closed for quite a while.
