Okinawa’s Ryukyu Kings take on Saitama in weekend roundball

Date Posted: 2007-11-09

The Ryukyu Kings head into the second weekend of Japan Professional Basketball League action at home, taking on the Saitama Broncos at the Naha Gym.

The Kings, an expansion team in the league this year, split its season openers last week, winning and losing against the Oita Heat Devils at the Okinawa Convention Center. This weekend’s games, Friday night at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m., are being played at the Naha Gym in the Nagata district of Naha City, close to the Naha entrance to the Okinawa Expressway. Drivers exiting at Naha proceed toward the airport, with the gym on the right just before the Route 329 crossing.

The Ryukyu Kings are staging pre-game and post-game parties Saturday to stir interest among fans. A ¥5,500 package includes a game ticket and food and drinks at the post-game party, which takes place near Kokusai Dori. A pre-game party gets under way outside the Naha City Gym, in the parking lot, at 1 p.m. Saturday. Game time Saturday is 2 p.m.

Information about the parties is available at 090-6865-5508.
