Scarce antiques up for grabs at Antiques Fair

More than 40 vendors are dressing their booths for the 15th Annual Okinawa Antiques Fair set for tomorrow through Sunday.

The Fair features various antiques, including paintings, hanging scrolls, kimonos, dolls, tableware, old maps, stamps and pottery. Tsubyoya style pottery by well known artisans is expected to attract considerable interest as the event unfolds at the Okinawa City Gymnasium in Okinawa City’s Athletic Park.

The antiques fair runs Friday, Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. ~ 6 p.m. Admission is ¥200 for adults, and is free to youngsters 15 and younger. This will be the last antiques fair to be held at the Okinawa City Gymnasium. The must-attend event will move to a new venue next year.

Monthly antique fairs are also open to those looking for scarce items at bargain prices. One is held the third Sunday of each month at Gokuku Shrine in Naha City’s Onoyama Park.

The attend the 15th Annual Okinawa Antiques Fair, take the Okinawa Minami (South) exit from the Expressway. Athletic Park is near the exit.
