Gargoyle celebrates anniversary, album with live concert Saturday

Date Posted: 2007-09-07

Heavy metal sounds will fill 7th Heaven Koza tomorrow as the venerable Tokyo-based Gargoyle band makes its annual Okinawa appearance.

Gargoyle is celebrating its 20th anniversary this weekend, having attained cult status with hard rock and metal audiences across Japan the past two decades. The Saturday evening performance coincides with release of Gargoyle’s new album, ‘Yaiba’. It’s the group’s largest show of the year, largely because of the combined anniversary and album unveiling.

Formed in Osaka in 1987, Gargoyle debuted its first album, ‘Misogi’ in 1989. Riding a wave of popularity, the band has now released 13 albums plus five best albums, three mini albums and seven videos and DVDs.

7th Heaven Koza’s two house bands, 8-Ball and Jackpot, will also perform at tomorrow’s concert. Doors open at 8 p.m. and the show kicks off at 9 p.m. Advance tickets are ¥3,000, while tickets at the door are ¥3,500. There’s a $10 (¥1,000) military discount. Purchase of one drink at the club is required.

The 7th Heaven Koza venue is located at 1-2-10-3F Chuo, in Okinawa City. Further information is available at (098) 982-1987.
