Ginowan cops stage raid on Maehara brothelDate Posted: 2007-09-06 Police raided the Fortune Club in the Maehara District of Ginowan City, where officers say university students, mainland tourists and runaway girls work as prostitutes. Acting on a tip, police say they raided the club at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, confronting Fortune owner Taishi Tamahara on his activities. Tamahara confessed to police “Yes, I was providing girls to customers for prostitution.” Police say the 24-year-old had little choice but to admit it, because there were customers waiting in the club for girls at the time of their visit. The girls also admitted to engaging in acts of prostitution. All were arrested, as was a customer caught in the act. The police strike sent ripples through the clustered neighborhood of shops, bars and clubs offering similar services. The area quickly went dark as shops were closed and shuttered, neon signs turned off, and people disappeared into the night. |
