Citi Group commits to new operations at Toyosaki TownDate Posted: 2007-09-01 The Okinawa Citi Group Center says it will employ 700 in the new operation, which focuses on financial programs, an accounting division, corporate operations and a call center. The 14,000 square meter facility, with a ¥4.8 billion budget, will open between April and June next year. The new Center will employ 490 fulltime staff, and more than 200 part time workers. A Citi Group official says the operation will be approximately the same size as it’s center in Tokyo, and will be capable of backing up the Tokyo headquarters. “We decided on this place because it’s near the airport, and it’s comfortable and convenient for traffic,” a Citi Group officer said, “and the environment will work well for us.” Houmei Kinjo, Tomishiro City Mayor, and Masahiro Kanna, Prefecture Bureau of Land Development Chairman, say the Citi Group decision to locate in Toyosaki Town is great for it’s expansion, but note Citi Group isn’t the only company coming to town. Four others were chosen from 16 applicants for the embarkation company opportunities. Ryukyu Glass Group headed by its president, Seifuku Inamine, will move in coming months, together with Asian goods giant Ramayama. Ken Teruya, president of Sky Holdings rent-a-car company will relocate its driver’s license service business to Toyosaki, and the Prefecture Foundation Road Safety Institute will join the businesses being established. Toyosaki Urban Development says it still has 43 hectares of land available. There’s 7,200 square meters of downtown space available for businesses, and those plots go up for public sale in October. Another 10,000 square meters is available in front of Tamilon Shopping Center near Toyosaki-Kaihin Park side, along Route 292. It will go to public auction in December. |
