Retirees to be honored by all military services

Date Posted: 2007-08-23

Torii Station will host the joint services' Annual Appreciation Day for retirees and widows on Sept 8th. Ceremonies at Torii Beach begin at 10 am.

“The primary purpose of the Retiree Appreciation Day is to thank retirees for their service to the Nation and to inform them of the support available to them through the military installations on Okinawa,” said Kenneth Spink, former U.S. Army Garrison Japan manager and project officer for this event. The ceremony will begin with a posting of the Colors and the national anthem, welcoming remarks by the U.S. Consul General and senior commanders of each of the four services.

Retirees will be entertained and informed by stage performances, static displays and booths. Following a lunch, the ceremonies will conclude at 1 p.m. with the retiring of the colors.

For more information, contact Kenneth Spink at 644-4341 or Rick Danielson at 644-4198.
