Lequio Airline finally ready to take off

Lequio Airline, an Okinawan air carrier that has been 10 years in the making is finally scheduled for its inaugural take-off from Naha Airport to Tokyo’s Haneda Airport in April 2003. According to its published business plan, the company aims to offer the cheapest fares of all carriers on the Naha – Tokyo route.

The company took an important step towards getting ready for action on Aug.5 when it held the first test day for prospective employees. The second test day is scheduled for September. More than 1,500 people had applied for various positions nationwide, 183 was selected to take the test and 66 will be selected.

The airline is also expecting a brand new Boeing 767-300ER for delivery before its inaugural flight in April.

The company president Mikio Chinen says that he is well aware of problems that every airline is facing in these days. “We know that airlines the world over are having a hard time in turning a profit, but we are confident. We will take things step by step as we have been doing past ten years, and will be ready to fly come April.
