Jewelry, cash stolen from a parked car

Date Posted: 2007-07-22

Police think an Uruma City business owner left her car unlocked Friday evening, giving thieves a tempting target.
The woman had parked in front of her Laundromat business on Route 8 near Agena intersection, then visited with fellow business owners for several hours. Upon returning to her car, the woman discovered her purse filled with jewelry and cash was gone. She told police ¥10 million in jewelry had been in the purse, along with ¥40,000 cash, bankbook and her personal seal.
Police say the incident happened in a very busy area in the Midori district, but that no evidence of a burglary was evident. There were no broken windows or scratches or marks on the door locks that would have indicated a break in. They speculate the car owner simply forgot to lock the car before walking away.
Diamond and ruby rings, as well as gold watches, were listed among the stolen goods
